Jadeja made his first-class debut for Saurashtra in 2006–07. He was a member of the India Under-19 squad that finished as runners-up at the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and went on to captain the side that won the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia, with players such as Virat Kohli in the team.

In domestic cricket, he became a central figure for Saurashtra, helping the team win their maiden Ranji Trophy title in the 2019–20 season. He has registered multiple triple centuries in first-class cricket, joining a small group of batsmen to do so in the Ranji Trophy.

International Career

Jadeja made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in February 2009. He was part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy held in England.

Test Cricket

He made his Test debut against England at Nagpur in December 2012. Over the years, he developed into a frontline spin-bowling all-rounder, often forming a successful spin partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin on Indian pitches. He has been ranked as the No. 1 Test all-rounder by the ICC on multiple occasions and has held the top spot in the ICC bowler rankings for Tests.

Twenty20 Internationals

Jadeja was a member of the Indian squad that won the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the United States, where he played a supporting role before announcing his retirement from T20 Internationals after the tournament.

He later played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala before joining Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2012, with whom he has been associated for most of his IPL career. He has won multiple IPL titles with CSK and briefly captained the franchise in 2022 before stepping down mid-season.

Playing Style

Jadeja is known for his accurate, attacking left-arm spin that extracts turn and bounce, especially on Indian surfaces. As a batsman, he is a versatile lower-middle-order player capable of both stabilising innings and scoring quickly. His fielding, characterised by quick reflexes, a strong throwing arm and athleticism in the inner circle, is regarded as among the best in contemporary cricket.
