Ravichandran Ashwin is an Indian international cricketer known primarily as a right-arm off-spin bowler and lower-order right-handed batter. Background and Early Life
Ashwin was born and brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was educated at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and later at St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. He pursued an undergraduate degree in information technology at the SSN College of Engineering, affiliated to Anna University, before committing to professional cricket. Originally an opening batter in his junior cricket days, he moved to off-spin bowling after recurring injuries, eventually developing into a front-line spinner.
Domestic Career
Ashwin made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy in 2006–07. He has been a mainstay of the Tamil Nadu side across formats, contributing to their campaigns in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has also represented South Zone in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy.
Indian Premier League
Ashwin first played in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings, where he was part of the squads that won the title in 2010 and 2011, and contributed to the franchise's Champions League Twenty20 victories. He later moved to Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), where he served as captain from 2018 to 2019.
