Background

Kulti is a town in the western part of West Bengal that historically formed part of the Asansol industrial cluster, known for its iron and steel works and coal mining. The college was set up to provide accessible higher education to students from this region, many of whom come from families associated with the area's industrial workforce. Until the formation of Kazi Nazrul University in 2012, colleges in this part of the erstwhile Bardhaman district were affiliated to the University of Burdwan.
