Overview
Kakatiya University is a state public university located in Hanumakonda, in the state of Telangana, India. Established to serve the academic needs of the erstwhile Warangal region, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across the arts, sciences, commerce, engineering, pharmacy, law, and education. It takes its name from the Kakatiya dynasty, the medieval rulers whose capital, Warangal, lies in the same region.

Background
The university was created to expand higher education access in the northern Telangana region, which had earlier been served largely by institutions affiliated to Osmania University in Hyderabad. The campus is situated on the outskirts of the twin cities of Warangal and Hanumakonda, an area historically associated with the Kakatiya rulers and home to landmarks such as the Thousand Pillar Temple and the Warangal Fort.
Academic structure
