Mrunal Thakur is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Hindi and Telugu cinema, with earlier work in Indian television. She first gained wide recognition for her portrayal of Bulbul in the Zee TV serial Kumkum Bhagya and later transitioned to films, earning critical and commercial success in projects such as Super 30, Sita Ramam, and Hi Nanna.

Mrunal Thakur was born on 1 August 1992 in Dhule, Maharashtra, into a Marathi-speaking family. Her family later moved to Nagpur and subsequently to Mumbai. She completed her schooling in Mumbai and graduated from Wilson College, affiliated with the University of Mumbai. Before entering acting, she worked as a model and participated in beauty pageants during her college years.
Thakur began her acting career on Indian television in 2012 with the Star Plus serial Mujhse Kuchh Kehti…Yeh Khamoshiyaan. She gained widespread popularity playing Bulbul Arora in Ekta Kapoor's Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV, a role she portrayed from 2014 to 2016. She also appeared in the dance reality programme Box Cricket League and other television projects during this period.
Thakur made her feature film debut in the Marathi film Vitti Dandu (2014). Her Hindi film debut came with Love Sonia (2018), directed by Tabrez Noorani, in which she played the lead role of a young woman searching for her sister in the international human trafficking trade. The performance was praised by critics and screened at film festivals.
In 2019, she appeared opposite Hrithik Roshan in Vikas Bahl's Super 30, a biographical drama based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar. She subsequently appeared in Batla House (2019) with John Abraham, Ghost Stories (2020) on Netflix, and Toofaan (2021) directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, in which she played a doctor opposite Farhan Akhtar. In 2022, she starred in Jersey, the Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name, opposite Shahid Kapoor.
Thakur made her Telugu debut with Sita Ramam (2022), directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, in which she played the title role of Sita Mahalakshmi opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The film was a major commercial success across multiple language versions and established her as a leading actress in Telugu cinema. She followed this with Hi Nanna (2023), directed by Shouryuv, opposite Nani, which also performed strongly at the box office.
