Background
Dulquer Salmaan was born in Kochi, Kerala, into a prominent film family. His father Mammootty is one of the most acclaimed actors in Indian cinema. Dulquer completed his schooling at Toc H Public School in Kochi and Sishya School in Chennai. He pursued higher studies in the United States, graduating in business management from Purdue University. Before entering films, he worked briefly in Dubai. He later trained in acting at the Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai before making his screen debut.
Career
Early years (2012–2013)
Dulquer made his acting debut with Srinath Rajendran's Second Show (2012), a Malayalam film. His second release, Ustad Hotel (2012), directed by Anwar Rasheed and written by Anjali Menon, became a critical and commercial success and earned him wider recognition. The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film, marking an early high point in his career. He followed it with Theevram (2012) and Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (2013).
Rise to prominence (2014–2017)
Anjali Menon's Bangalore Days (2014) was a major commercial success and remains one of the most popular Malayalam films of the decade. Around this period he appeared in Vikramadithyan (2014), Njaan (2014), O Kadhal Kanmani (2015) — his Tamil debut, directed by Mani Ratnam — and Charlie (2015), directed by Martin Prakkat, for which he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor. He starred in Kali (2016) and the bilingual Kammatipaadam (2016), directed by Rajeev Ravi, which received critical acclaim for his performance.
Pan-Indian work (2018–present)
Dulquer made his Telugu debut with Mahanati (2018), a biographical film on actress Savitri directed by Nag Ashwin, in which he portrayed Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan. He made his Hindi-language debut with Karwaan (2018), directed by Akarsh Khurana. Subsequent films include Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (2020, Tamil), Kurup (2021, Malayalam) — a fictionalised account inspired by the Sukumara Kurup case, Salute (2022), Sita Ramam (2022, Telugu), directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, which became a major pan-Indian success, and King of Kotha (2023). He also appeared in the Hindi film Chup: Revenge of the Artist (2022), directed by R. Balki.
Production
In 2017, Dulquer founded the production company Wayfarer Films. The banner has produced films including Solo (2017), directed by Bejoy Nambiar, and other projects in Malayalam.

Personal life
