Administration
Siddipet functions as the headquarters of Siddipet district, which was carved out as a separate district in October 2016 when the Government of Telangana reorganised the state into a larger number of smaller districts. Prior to this reorganisation, Siddipet was a part of the undivided Medak district.
Civic services within the town are administered by the Siddipet Municipality. The town is also the seat of the Siddipet revenue division and houses district-level offices including the District Collectorate, Superintendent of Police, and various line department offices.
Politics
Siddipet is a politically prominent town in Telangana and forms the Siddipet Assembly constituency, which sends a member to the Telangana Legislative Assembly. The constituency falls within the Medak Lok Sabha constituency. It has long been associated with the political career of T. Harish Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi), who has represented the seat in the assembly.
Economy
The economy of Siddipet is largely driven by agriculture and allied activities. Paddy, maize, cotton, and pulses are among the principal crops grown in the surrounding mandals. The town hosts agricultural markets (rythu bazaars and market yards), retail trade, small-scale manufacturing, and services that cater to a wide rural hinterland. Government employment, education, and healthcare also contribute significantly to the local economy.
Transport
Siddipet is well connected by road. State highways link it to Hyderabad to the south, Karimnagar to the north-east, and Warangal to the east. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) operates regular bus services from Siddipet bus station to towns and cities across Telangana and neighbouring states. The nearest major railway connections and the nearest airport, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, are at Hyderabad.
Education and healthcare
Siddipet has a range of government and private schools, junior colleges, and degree colleges. A government medical college has been established in the town to serve the district and improve access to tertiary medical education and care.
