Nagarjuna Akkineni, commonly credited as Akkineni Nagarjuna or simply Nagarjuna, is an Indian actor, film producer, television presenter and businessman who works predominantly in Telugu cinema. The son of veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), he has been a leading figure in Telugu films since the late 1980s and has also appeared in Hindi and Tamil productions. He is known for combining mainstream commercial cinema with experimental and devotional projects, and for his work as a producer through Annapurna Studios.

Background
Nagarjuna was born into the Akkineni family, one of the foremost film families of Telugu cinema. His father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, was a pioneering actor who later established Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad, an institution that became central to the relocation of the Telugu film industry from Madras to Hyderabad. Nagarjuna pursued engineering, including studies abroad, before entering films full time.

Early work
Nagarjuna made his debut as a child artiste in Sudigundalu (1967). He launched his career as a leading man with Vikram (1986), directed by V. Madhusudhana Rao. Early successes established him as a youthful action and romantic hero in Telugu cinema.
Breakthrough and stardom
His pan-Indian recognition came with Mani Ratnam's bilingual gangster drama Geethanjali (1989), shot in Telugu, which won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. He followed this with the bilingual Hindi–Telugu hit Shiva (1989), directed by Ram Gopal Varma, a film widely credited with reshaping action filmmaking in both industries.

Devotional and biopic films
Nagarjuna is closely associated with devotional cinema in Telugu. Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu, both directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, are regarded as benchmarks of the genre. He later played the role of Adi Shankaracharya in Shirdi Sai (2012) and other faith-based projects.
Production and Business
Nagarjuna oversees Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad, the production and post-production complex founded by his father. Through the studio and its banner, he has produced several Telugu films, including projects launching newer directors and actors. He also founded Annapurna College of Film and Media in Hyderabad, an institution offering training in filmmaking.
He is the chairman of N Convention, a chain of convention and banquet venues, and has interests in real estate and hospitality.
Television
Nagarjuna hosted the Telugu version of the reality show Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, the regional adaptation of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, on Star Maa across multiple seasons. He has also hosted Bigg Boss Telugu from its third season, taking over from Nani.

Personal Life
