History and Background
MGM Medical College was established in the mid-twentieth century as part of the broader expansion of public medical education in post-independence India. The college was set up to address the shortage of trained medical professionals in the Malwa and Nimar regions of Madhya Pradesh. Over the decades, it has grown in academic scope and infrastructure, adding postgraduate departments and super-speciality units to its original undergraduate programme.
The college has historically been affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. Following the creation of a dedicated medical university in Madhya Pradesh, affiliations for medical colleges in the state were reorganised under the Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur.
Academics
The college offers the MBBS degree at the undergraduate level, which is a five-and-a-half-year programme including a compulsory rotating internship.
