Course delivery combines self-instructional study material, contact classes at affiliated study centres, audio–visual resources and assignments, with examinations conducted by the university.
The university has placed emphasis on producing learning material in Assamese alongside English, with the aim of supporting learners in their preferred language. It has also developed digital and web-based learning resources to supplement print self-learning materials.
Significance
As Assam's dedicated state open university, KKHSOU plays a notable role in expanding access to higher education for working professionals, women learners, residents of remote and rural areas, and students who could not continue in the conventional system. Its network of study centres extends the reach of higher education across the districts of Assam.
