Background
The Meerut Metro is a mass rapid transit system planned to operate along the same alignment as the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The project is being implemented by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), a joint venture of the Government of India and the participating state governments of the National Capital Region. Unlike conventional metro systems, the Meerut Metro shares its corridor and rolling stock infrastructure with the RRTS, making it one of the first such integrated systems in India.
Location and connectivity
Bhaisali station serves the Bhaisali area of Meerut, which lies near the city's existing inter-state bus terminal and central commercial localities. The station is intended to provide last-mile connectivity to commuters within Meerut and feed into the broader RRTS network linking the city with Ghaziabad and Delhi.
Significance
As one of the stations on Meerut's first metro line, Bhaisali contributes to easing road congestion in the city, supporting transit-oriented development, and integrating Meerut into the wider National Capital Region public transport framework.
