Begusarai railway station (station code: BGS) is a railway station serving the town of Begusarai, the headquarters of Begusarai district in the Indian state of Bihar. It lies on the Barauni–Katihar section of the Indian Railways network and is operated by the East Central Railway (ECR) zone.

Location and setting
The station is situated in the town of Begusarai, on the northern bank of the Ganga in the Mithila region of Bihar. Begusarai is an industrial centre, known for the Barauni Refinery and associated petrochemical and fertiliser units in the nearby town of Barauni, which is also a major railway junction lying a short distance to the east.
Network and connectivity
Begusarai station lies on the broad-gauge route connecting Barauni Junction with Katihar Junction, a busy corridor in north Bihar that links onward to Guwahati and the rest of the North East via the Katihar–New Jalpaiguri section. Through Barauni, the station has indirect connectivity to Patna, Hajipur, and Mokama, and further to Delhi, Howrah and other major destinations on the Indian Railways trunk network.

The station falls under the jurisdiction of the East Central Railway zone of Indian Railways, which is headquartered at Hajipur. Within the zone, this section is administered by the Sonpur railway division.
