Location and setting
The station is situated in the heart of Anand, a city in central Gujarat that is widely known as the "Milk Capital of India" owing to its association with the Amul cooperative and the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. Anand lies between the larger cities of Vadodara to the south and Ahmedabad to the north, and the railway station serves as a major access point for travellers heading to educational and research institutions in the area, including Anand Agricultural University and the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA).
Lines and connectivity
Anand Junction is positioned on the principal double-tracked, electrified corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which forms part of the broader Western Railway trunk route extending towards Delhi. From Anand, a branch line diverges eastwards through Petlad and connects with Godhra, providing an alternative route between central Gujarat and the Ratlam–Godhra section. A short branch also historically connected Anand with the port town of Khambhat (Cambay).
