Ajitesh Argal

Ajitesh Argal is an Indian cricketer best known for his role as a right-arm medium-pace bowler in the India Under-19 team that won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2008. He represented Baroda in domestic cricket in India.

Background

Career

Under-19 World Cup, 2008

Argal was part of the India Under-19 squad captained by Virat Kohli that travelled to Malaysia for the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. India won the tournament, defeating South Africa in the final at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur. Argal had a particularly significant outing in the final, where his disciplined new-ball spell helped restrict the South African batting and earned him the Player of the Match award. The squad included other emerging cricketers such as Ravindra Jadeja, Manish Pandey, Saurabh Tiwary, Iqbal Abdulla and Tanmay Srivastava.

Domestic cricket

At the senior level, Argal turned out for Baroda in Indian domestic competitions, including the Ranji Trophy. He featured primarily as a seam-bowling option in the state side but, like several members of the 2008 Under-19 group, did not progress to the senior India team.
