Television hosting

Before his film debut, Aditya Roy Kapur worked as a video jockey on the music channel Channel V, where he hosted youth-oriented programmes. His work on television gave him visibility with young audiences and led to film opportunities.

He made his Hindi film debut with Vipul Amrutlal Shah's London Dreams (2009), which co-starred Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. This was followed by supporting roles in films such as Action Replayy (2010) and Guzaarish (2010), the latter directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Breakthrough with Aashiqui 2

Subsequent work

Following Aashiqui 2, he appeared in films including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), directed by Ayan Mukerji, in which he played a supporting role alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. He went on to star in Daawat-e-Ishq (2014) opposite Parineeti Chopra, Fitoor (2016), an adaptation of Charles Dickens's Great Expectations directed by Abhishek Kapoor, OK Jaanu (2017), directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, and Kalank (2019), an ensemble period drama directed by Abhishek Varman.

He later headlined the action film Malang (2020), again directed by Mohit Suri, and Rashtra Kavach Om (2022). In 2023, he appeared in Gumraah and made his web series debut in The Night Manager, the Indian adaptation of the BBC series of the same name, streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
