Background

ANGRAU was established to consolidate agricultural education and research in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh. It draws its lineage from earlier agricultural colleges in the region and was reorganised after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with its jurisdiction now confined to the residual state of Andhra Pradesh. The headquarters were relocated to Guntur district following bifurcation, with the main administrative campus at Lam.
