Sudeep, also credited as Kichcha Sudeep, is an Indian actor, director, producer, screenwriter and television presenter who works primarily in Kannada cinema. He has also appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam films. Widely regarded as one of the leading stars of Kannada cinema, he is known for his work across action, drama and thriller genres, and for hosting the Kannada version of the reality show Bigg Boss.

Sudeep was born in Shimoga, Karnataka, into a Kannada-speaking family. His father, Sanjeev, served as a businessman, and his mother, Saroja, was a homemaker. He completed his schooling in Bengaluru and pursued a degree in mechanical engineering before turning to acting. He trained in acting at Roshan Taneja's Acting Institute in Mumbai before debuting in Kannada films.
Sudeep made his film debut with Thayavva (1997), directed by Sai Prakash. His early career consisted of supporting and lead roles that did not achieve significant commercial success.
His breakthrough came with Huchcha (2001), directed by Om Prakash Rao, which became a major commercial success. He followed this with films such as Nandi (2002), Partha (2003) and Kiccha (2003); the last of these earned him the popular prefix "Kichcha" that he has retained as part of his screen name. He made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma's Phoonk (2008) and reprised the role in its sequel Phoonk 2 (2010). He also turned director with My Autograph (2006), an official remake of the Tamil film Autograph, which received critical acclaim.
Sudeep gained pan-Indian recognition with S. S. Rajamouli's bilingual fantasy film Eega / Naan Ee (2012), in which he played the antagonist Sudeep/Sudeep Varma. He starred in commercially successful Kannada films including Kempe Gowda (2011), which he also directed, Bachchan (2013), Maanikya (2014), Ranna (2015) and Hebbuli (2017). He played a prominent role in the Tamil film Kanchana 2 (2015) and appeared in the Hindi film Dabangg 3 (2019) opposite Salman Khan.
He starred in Pailwaan (2019) and the high-budget action adventure Vikrant Rona (2022), directed by Anup Bhandari, which was released in multiple Indian languages and 3D format. Other notable releases include Phantom (2024) and Max (2024).
Sudeep has hosted multiple seasons of Bigg Boss Kannada, the Kannada-language version of the reality television franchise, on Colors Kannada (and later Colors Super and Asianet Suvarna), beginning with its first season in 2013. The show has contributed significantly to his popular appeal in Karnataka.
Sudeep is the co-owner of the Karnataka Bulldozers, a team in the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), which won the league title in multiple seasons. He runs the production banner Kichcha Creations.
Sudeep married Priya in 2001, and the couple has a daughter, Saanvi. The family resides in Bengaluru.
Sudeep is considered among the highest-paid and most commercially successful actors in Kannada cinema. His role in Eega brought him wider attention across South Indian and Hindi-speaking audiences, and his subsequent work in multilingual projects has positioned him as one of the prominent crossover stars from Karnataka.
