Background

Nikitin Dheer was born into a family connected to the Hindi entertainment industry. His father, Pankaj Dheer, has had a long career across Hindi films and Indian television, and his mother, Anita Dheer, has been associated with production work. Growing up in this environment shaped Nikitin's interest in acting from an early stage. His tall and broad-shouldered build, often cited at well over six feet, has frequently led to his being cast in physically imposing roles.

Career

Film debut

Nikitin made his acting debut with Ashutosh Gowariker's historical epic Jodhaa Akbar (2008), in which he played Sharifuddin Hussain, the brother-in-law and antagonist of the Mughal emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan). The role, which involved sword combat sequences, drew attention to him as a newcomer capable of handling action-heavy parts in a large-scale period film.

Subsequent work

Following his debut, Nikitin appeared in a range of Hindi films in supporting and antagonist roles. His most prominent screen appearance came in Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express (2013), opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, where he portrayed Tangaballi, a powerful local strongman. The role gave him wide visibility, given the film's commercial success.

He has also worked in films such as Sahasam (a Telugu action film, 2013) and has taken up parts in other Hindi productions and television projects, while continuing to be associated chiefly with action and negative-shaded characters.

Personal life

Nikitin Dheer married actress Kratika Sengar, known for her work in Hindi television serials including Jhansi Ki Rani and Punar Vivaah. The couple's wedding was widely covered in entertainment media. They have a daughter.

Significance

Nikitin Dheer represents a generation of second-generation actors in the Hindi film industry who have carved out a niche playing strong supporting characters, particularly antagonists, rather than conventional leading-man parts. His performances in Jodhaa Akbar and Chennai Express illustrate Bollywood's continued use of physically commanding actors for memorable villain roles in big-budget productions.
