Mayank Yadav hails from Delhi and developed through the city's age-group cricket structure. He progressed through Delhi's domestic system before being signed by an IPL franchise, where his pace generation became the focal point of his early career.
Yadav represents Delhi in domestic competitions organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including the Ranji Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Yadav was retained and fielded by the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. His 2024 season debut attracted considerable attention as he repeatedly clocked deliveries above 150 km/h, with several recorded above 155 km/h, making him one of the fastest bowlers of that edition. He was named Player of the Match in his early appearances of the season before injury concerns interrupted his run.
On the back of his IPL performances, Yadav earned selection to the Indian national squad in the Twenty20 International (T20I) format, becoming part of India's pool of frontline pace bowlers in the shortest format.
Yadav is regarded primarily as a strike bowler whose chief weapon is raw pace combined with steep bounce. In a domestic ecosystem that has historically produced relatively few genuinely express-pace bowlers, his emergence has been viewed as significant for India's fast-bowling resources, particularly in white-ball cricket.
