Overview
The Delhi cricket team is a first-class cricket team based in Delhi, India, that represents the National Capital Territory in domestic Indian cricket competitions. It is administered by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and competes in tournaments organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including the Ranji Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and the Duleep Trophy (as part of the North Zone).
The team has historically been one of the stronger sides in Indian domestic cricket and has produced several India internationals, including former captains Bishan Singh Bedi, Mohinder Amarnath, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, and Virat Kohli.

Background
Cricket in Delhi developed through the early twentieth century, with the city fielding teams in regional tournaments under different banners before the formation of a unified state side. The Delhi and District Cricket Association, founded in the early 1900s, became the recognised body for organising the game in the territory and selecting representative sides for national competitions. The Ranji Trophy, India's premier first-class tournament, was instituted in 1934, and Delhi has competed in it since the early years of the championship.
Home ground
The team's traditional home is the Arun Jaitley Stadium in central New Delhi, located near the Delhi Gate area. Originally known as the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, it was renamed in 2019 in honour of the late former DDCA president and Union minister Arun Jaitley. The ground is also a regular venue for international matches and serves as the home base of the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Indian Premier League.
Ranji Trophy history
Delhi reached its first Ranji Trophy final in 1948–49 but had to wait several decades before claiming the title. The team's most successful period came under the captaincy of Bishan Singh Bedi in the late 1970s and through the 1980s, when a strong core of national players brought sustained success.

Administration
