LYF is an Indian mobile handset brand owned by Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries Limited. The brand was launched to support the rollout of Reliance Jio's 4G LTE network by offering devices compatible with Voice over LTE (VoLTE), which Jio's network uses for voice services. LYF handsets were among the earliest 4G VoLTE-capable smartphones distributed at scale in India.

Reliance Industries developed Reliance Jio as a pan-India 4G LTE telecommunications operator. Because Jio was designed as an all-IP network without a legacy 2G or 3G layer, voice calls had to be carried over LTE using VoLTE. At the time of Jio's commercial preparations, very few handsets in the Indian market supported VoLTE on the relevant LTE bands. To bridge this gap, Reliance Retail introduced the LYF brand, ensuring that affordable VoLTE-capable smartphones were available to customers adopting Jio services.
LYF marketed a range of 4G smartphones across entry-level, mid-range and higher-tier segments. Device families released under the brand included the Earth, Water, Wind, Flame and Easy series, with each series spanning multiple models at different price points. Handsets typically featured Android operating systems, dual SIM support and VoLTE.
LYF devices were sold through Reliance Digital and other Reliance Retail outlets, as well as through third-party retailers and online channels. Bundled offers with Reliance Jio SIM cards and data plans formed an important part of the brand's go-to-market strategy, particularly during Jio's preview and commercial launch phases.
The LYF brand played a notable role in accelerating the adoption of VoLTE-capable handsets in India. By making such devices widely available at competitive prices, it helped seed the device base needed for Jio's all-4G voice and data network. The brand is frequently cited as part of Reliance's broader strategy of vertical integration across telecommunications, retail and consumer hardware.
