Academic activity at Kaziranga University is organised through schools or faculties covering broad disciplinary groups. Typical areas of study include:
Programmes are offered at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, with curricula structured along the credit-based semester pattern common to Indian universities.
The campus is located on the outskirts of Jorhat, a major urban centre of Upper Assam known for its tea industry, the Tocklai Tea Research Institute, and proximity to cultural landmarks such as Majuli. Jorhat is connected to other parts of the country through Jorhat Airport and the broadgauge railway network, and lies along National Highway corridors that link Guwahati with the eastern districts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
As one of the private universities operating in Assam, Kaziranga University contributes to the diversification of higher education provision in the North East of India, a region where demand for professional and technical courses has grown alongside expansion of secondary education. Its presence in Jorhat complements established institutions in the area such as Assam Agricultural University and the Jorhat Engineering College.
