Born into a Sindhi family settled in Kolkata, Jeet grew up in West Bengal and was educated in the city. Although his mother tongue is not Bengali, he built his career in the Bengali film industry and is widely identified with it. Before entering films, he briefly engaged with modelling and television work in Mumbai.
Jeet appeared in a Hindi film early in his career but did not establish himself in Mumbai. He shifted focus to the Bengali film industry, where his breakthrough came with the romantic drama Sathi (2002), directed by Haranath Chakraborty and produced under the Shree Venkatesh Films banner. The film's commercial success established him as a leading man in Tollywood.
Through the 2000s, Jeet featured in a string of commercially successful Bengali films, often opposite leading actresses of the period such as Priyanka Trivedi, Koel Mallick and Srabanti Chatterjee. His filmography from this phase includes titles such as Sangee, Nayak: The Real Hero, Bandhan, Yuddho, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, Josh and Dui Prithibi. Many of these were commercial action or romantic dramas, frequently directed by filmmakers like Haranath Chakraborty, Ravi Kinagi and Raj Chakraborty.
Jeet founded Jeetz Filmworks, a Kolkata-based film production company, to produce Bengali commercial cinema and to mount larger-budget projects. The company has produced multiple films starring Jeet and has also collaborated with other production houses on co-productions. Through Jeetz Filmworks, he has been associated with action-driven titles such as Boss: Born to Rule, Boss 2, Baadshah – The Don and Sultan: The Saviour.
In the 2020s, Jeet continued to headline Bengali commercial features, including action thrillers and large-scale entertainers such as Chengiz, which was released in both Bengali and Hindi. He has also explored web content and pan-Indian releases through his production banner.
Jeet has hosted Bengali television programmes, including reality and game shows on Bengali general entertainment channels, which broadened his presence beyond cinema.
Jeet is generally associated with mass-market commercial cinema rather than parallel or arthouse films. His on-screen image draws heavily on action heroism, song-and-dance sequences and family-oriented romantic drama, a template that has made him a consistent box-office draw in West Bengal, Bangladesh and among Bengali-speaking audiences abroad.
Along with contemporaries such as Prosenjit Chatterjee and Dev, Jeet is regarded as a key figure in the commercial revival of Bengali cinema in the 2000s and 2010s, a period when Tollywood saw renewed investment in mainstream production, larger budgets and improved technical standards. His work as both star and producer has contributed to the industry's commercial infrastructure.
Jeet is married and has children. He generally maintains a low public profile regarding his personal life, although he has occasionally appeared with his family at public events.
