Overview
Raj Chakraborty (born 21 February 1975) is an Indian film director, actor, producer and politician associated primarily with Bengali cinema. He is regarded as one of the commercially successful film-makers in the Tollywood industry based in Kolkata.
Before turning to feature films, Chakraborty worked extensively in Bengali television. In their early phases, he was associated with Zee Bangla's popular laughter show Mirakkel, hosted by Mir, and with the dance competition Dance Bangla Dance, on which Mithun Chakraborty served as judge. He also directed Star Jalsha's comedy programme I Laugh You.
Alongside his career in entertainment, Chakraborty has been active in public life. He has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal, representing the Barrackpore constituency, since 2021.
