Jangaon district is an administrative district in the north-central part of the Indian state of Telangana. The district was carved out as part of the major reorganisation of districts in Telangana in October 2016, when the state government increased the number of districts from 10 to 31. Jangaon town serves as the district headquarters.

Before the 2016 reorganisation, the area now constituting Jangaon district was part of the undivided Warangal district. The Government of Telangana, under Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, restructured the state's districts to bring administration closer to citizens, leading to the creation of several new districts including Jangaon.
Historically, the Jangaon area has associations with the Telangana armed peasant struggle of 1946–1951, which had significant activity in villages of the surrounding region. The area also lies within the broader cultural sphere of the medieval Kakatiya heartland centred on Warangal.
Jangaon district lies in the Telangana plateau, characterised by undulating terrain, granite outcrops and red soils typical of the Deccan. It is bordered by Siddipet district to the north-west, Hanamkonda and Warangal districts to the east, Suryapet district to the south, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district to the west. Agriculture is the principal occupation, with paddy, cotton and maize among the chief crops, supported by tank irrigation and tube wells.
The district is administered by a District Collector appointed by the state government, supported by officers in revenue, police, panchayat raj and line departments. For administrative purposes, the district is divided into revenue divisions and mandals, with mandals further comprising gram panchayats. Jangaon town functions as the seat of the collectorate and the principal urban centre.
Jangaon is well connected by rail and road. The town lies on the Kazipet–Secunderabad trunk line of the South Central Railway, and National Highway 163 connecting Hyderabad and Warangal passes through the district, making it accessible from the state capital.
The district economy is predominantly agrarian, supplemented by small-scale industry, trade and services concentrated in Jangaon town. Handloom weaving has traditionally been practised in parts of the district. Telugu is the principal language spoken, with Urdu also used by sections of the population.
The creation of Jangaon district was intended to decentralise governance, bring revenue and welfare services closer to rural populations, and recognise the distinct identity of the area within the larger Warangal region. The district occupies a strategic position on the Hyderabad–Warangal corridor, one of Telangana's main economic axes.
