The Indian Coast Guard Academy is the proposed premier training establishment of the Indian Coast Guard, intended to serve as the principal institution for the basic and professional training of officers and personnel of the service. The academy is planned to function as the equivalent within the Coast Guard of training establishments such as the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala for the Indian Navy.

The Indian Coast Guard was raised on 1 February 1977 and formally established under the Coast Guard Act, 1978, as an armed force of the Union charged with the protection of India's maritime interests, search and rescue at sea, marine environment protection, and enforcement of maritime law within India's maritime zones. Since its inception, training of Coast Guard officers and sailors has largely been conducted through Indian Navy establishments and through dedicated Coast Guard training centres located across the coastal regions of the country.
To consolidate this training under a single dedicated institution, the Government of India sanctioned the establishment of a standalone Indian Coast Guard Academy. The academy is intended to provide ab initio training to directly recruited officers as well as specialised professional courses for serving personnel.

The establishment of a dedicated academy reflects the expansion of the Indian Coast Guard's fleet and personnel strength, in line with the growing emphasis on coastal security in India following events that highlighted vulnerabilities along the country's nearly 7,500-kilometre coastline.
