I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) is a state public university located in Kapurthala, in the state of Punjab, India. The university was originally constituted as Punjab Technical University (PTU) by the Government of Punjab to consolidate and regulate technical education in the state. Before its creation, technical and professional colleges in Punjab were affiliated with several general universities, and the new institution was set up to provide a dedicated body for curriculum design, examinations, research promotion and quality control in technical disciplines.
