Private FM radio in India expanded significantly after the Government of India's Phase II licensing round in the mid-2000s, which allowed media houses to operate stations in multiple cities. HT Media entered the radio business during this expansion, launching Fever 104 FM as part of its diversification beyond print into broadcasting and digital media. The radio operations were housed under a dedicated subsidiary within the HT Media group.
In subsequent licensing rounds, the network expanded its city footprint, and HT Media also brought additional FM brands within its radio portfolio, consolidating its presence across metropolitan and Tier-I markets.
The station's schedule is built around presenter-driven music shows in the breakfast, drive-time and late-night slots, interspersed with Bollywood-led playlists. Programming has typically included celebrity interviews, contests, listener call-ins and tie-ins with film promotions, in line with the broader Hindi FM market in India. The network has also produced on-ground concerts, awards and brand-led activations marketed alongside the parent group's print and digital properties.
Fever 104 FM operates in several Indian metropolitan and large urban markets, with stations in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, among others. The exact list of cities has changed over time as licences were acquired or consolidated under the HT Media radio business.
As one of the FM brands operated by a major listed Indian media group, Fever 104 FM is part of the post-liberalisation private radio industry that emerged after the end of All India Radio's monopoly on broadcasting. It contributes to HT Media's multi-platform reach, complementing the group's newspapers and digital products, and is an example of the cross-media strategy adopted by Indian print publishers entering audio broadcasting.
