Dabgram lies on the eastern side of the Siliguri conurbation, between the city of Siliguri and the town of Jalpaiguri. The terrain is part of the Terai plain, gently sloping southward from the Himalayan foothills, and the area is drained by tributaries of the Mahananda and Teesta. The locality is known for the Dabgram-Fulbari area, which has seen considerable urban expansion as Siliguri has grown.
Although Dabgram is classified as a census town, much of its surrounding area falls under gram panchayat administration within the Rajganj community development block of Jalpaiguri district. The Dabgram-Phulbari assembly constituency, which takes its name partly from the locality, is part of the Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha constituency.
Dabgram hosts one of North Bengal's most prominent planned industrial areas, developed by the West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation. The Dabgram industrial estate accommodates a mix of small- and medium-scale manufacturing units, processing industries, and warehouses serving the wider North Bengal market. Proximity to Bagdogra Airport, New Jalpaiguri railway station, and National Highway connections to Siliguri has supported its role as a logistics and light-industry hub.
As part of the Siliguri urban region, Dabgram lies within the so-called "Chicken's Neck" or Siliguri Corridor, a strategically important strip of Indian territory connecting the north-eastern states to the rest of India. Its industrial estate makes it one of the more significant manufacturing nodes in northern West Bengal.
