Gaja came through the age-group cricket structure in Gujarat and progressed into the senior set-up of the Saurashtra Cricket Association, which administers cricket in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat and fields a team in BCCI tournaments such as the Ranji Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Gaja has featured for Saurashtra across the major domestic formats. As a seam bowler in a side traditionally reliant on its batting depth and spin resources, he has been part of squads competing in the national first-class and limited-overs circuit.
Gaja is among the pace bowlers developed within the Saurashtra system during a period in which the team established itself as a competitive force in Indian domestic cricket, including title-winning performances in the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
