Rawat came up through the age-group cricket system in India, progressing through under-19 ranks before moving into senior domestic cricket. As a left-handed top-order batsman who also keeps wicket, he has been used in a range of positions, including as an opener in shorter formats.
Rawat has played for Delhi across the major domestic competitions in India, including the Ranji Trophy (first-class), the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20). His performances in the white-ball circuit, in particular, drew attention from IPL franchises.
He was part of the India Under-19 setup and featured in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he served as a wicket-keeper batsman in the squad.
Rawat made his IPL debut after being signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was deployed in the top order, where his left-handed batting was used to provide a different angle alongside the franchise's right-handed batters.
Rawat is known as an aggressive left-handed batsman who can take on pace bowling in the powerplay, while his wicket-keeping ability gives teams an additional balance option. His skill set is particularly suited to limited-overs cricket.
Rawat is among a generation of young Delhi cricketers who have moved from the under-19 system into franchise cricket, reflecting the pathway provided by the BCCI's age-group structure and the IPL's role as a platform for emerging Indian talent.
