Aditi Shankar was born into a family closely associated with the Tamil film industry. Her father, S. Shankar, is known for directing large-scale productions such as Indian, Mudhalvan, Sivaji, Enthiran and 2.0. Before her acting debut, she trained in Carnatic music and contributed as a playback singer to a number of Tamil film soundtracks.
Aditi began her presence in cinema through playback singing, lending her voice to songs in Tamil films. Her musical training informed her early work in the industry before she transitioned to acting.
She made her acting debut in Viruman (2022), a Tamil rural drama directed by M. Muthaiah and starring Karthi in the title role. The film was produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and was a commercial success at the box office.
She subsequently appeared in further Tamil productions, taking on roles opposite established lead actors and continuing to work primarily within mainstream Tamil cinema.
As a member of a prominent film family, Aditi Shankar represents a younger generation of actors in Tamil cinema entering the industry through both performance and music. Her debut in Viruman placed her opposite an established star in a mass-market production, providing visibility early in her career.
