Background
The university was established by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature with the objective of expanding access to higher education and research in the Kadapa region, which had earlier depended on affiliated colleges of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. As a state public university, it is funded and regulated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and operates within the framework of the University Grants Commission.
