Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) is a state open university located in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. It offers higher education through the open and distance learning mode, catering to learners across the state.
The university was established on 1 July 1989 under the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University Act, 1989, enacted by the Government of Maharashtra. It is named after Yashwantrao Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
As a state open university, YCMOU functions with the objective of widening access to higher education, particularly for working professionals, rural learners and those unable to pursue conventional full-time studies.
