Overview

Vishal Krishna Reddy (born 29 August 1977), known professionally as Vishal, is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Tamil cinema. In addition to his acting career, he runs his own production house, Vishal Film Factory, under which he has produced several Tamil films. He was conferred with the Kalaimamani award in 2006 for his contributions to Tamil cinema.

Background

Vishal began his career in the Tamil film industry behind the camera, working as an assistant director to the actor and filmmaker Arjun. This early apprenticeship in production and direction preceded his transition to acting.

Vishal made his debut as a lead actor with the romantic thriller Chellamae (2004). He subsequently established himself in mainstream Tamil cinema through a series of action-oriented films, including Sandakozhi, Thimiru, Thaamirabharani and Malaikottai.
