Overview
Victor Banerjee (born 15 October 1946) is an Indian actor who has worked across English, Hindi, Bengali and Assamese cinema. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in nearly 100 films.
Banerjee has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed Indian and international filmmakers, including Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Roman Polanski, James Ivory, Sir David Lean, Jerry London, Ronald Neame and Montazur Rahman Akbar. His work spans art-house and mainstream productions in several languages.
He received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Ghare Baire. In 2022, the Government of India conferred upon him the Padma Bhushan, the country's third highest civilian honour, in recognition of his contribution to cinema.
