Overview
Veer Narmad South Gujarat University is a public university located in Surat, Gujarat, India. It was established in 1965 and serves as a major centre for higher education in the south Gujarat region.
The institution was earlier known as South Gujarat University. It was renamed Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) in 2004, in honour of Narmad, the noted Gujarati scholar and poet.
The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a range of disciplines. In addition to conventional streams, it houses several non-traditional postgraduate departments, including public administration, rural studies, comparative literature, and aquatic biology.
