Uttaran (Hindi: उतरन, meaning "hand-me-down" or "cast-off clothing") is an Indian Hindi-language television drama series that aired on Colors TV. Premise
The narrative centres on the contrasting lives of two girls — Iccha, the daughter of a maid, and Tapasya, the daughter of the wealthy Thakur family her mother serves. Raised together as childhood friends in the fictional household of the Thakurs, their bond is gradually tested by social inequality, envy, and rivalry over love and identity. The title itself refers to Iccha being made to wear Tapasya's old, discarded clothes, a recurring motif underlining the central theme of class difference.
