Background

ULCCS was founded in the early twentieth century in the Malabar region of present-day Kerala. It originated as a self-help initiative among labourers seeking to organise collectively for fair wages and dignified working conditions, drawing on the social reform currents that influenced communities in northern Kerala during that period.
