Overview

The University of North Bengal (also known as North Bengal University, abbreviated NBU) is a public state university located in the North Bengal region of West Bengal, India. It was established in 1962 by the Government of West Bengal to cater to higher education needs in the northern part of the state.

The main campus of the university is situated at Raja Rammohanpur in Siliguri, in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. In addition to the main campus, the university operates a second campus at Danguajhar in Jalpaiguri district and a third campus at Salt Lake, Kolkata.

The university offers academic programmes across multiple levels, including undergraduate, post-graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral courses. Through its faculties and affiliated institutions, NBU serves as one of the principal centres of higher learning in the North Bengal region.

The University of North Bengal is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a B++ grade.
