Overview
The University of Kashmir (UoK), informally known as Kashmir University (KU), is a public state university situated in the Hazratbal neighbourhood of Srinagar, on the western side of Dal Lake, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in 1948.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across a wide range of disciplines. These include liberal arts, business, commerce and management studies, education, law, applied sciences and technology, biological sciences, physical and material sciences, social sciences, medicine, dentistry, engineering, oriental learning, and music and fine arts.
The University of Kashmir has been awarded Grade "A++" by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has also been placed at rank 34 among universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
