Background

Career
Singapore (2019–2020)
David first appeared in international cricket for Singapore. He made his T20I debut against Qatar during the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier and continued to represent Singapore through the 2019–2020 period.
Switch to Australia
From 2022 onwards, David switched his international allegiance to Australia. He made his debut for Australia in 2022, with his first match against India the same year. He has since been a regular feature in Australia's T20I plans and was part of the Australian squads for the 2022, 2024 and 2026 editions of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Franchise cricket
Alongside his international career, David has played extensively in domestic Twenty20 leagues. In Australia he turns out for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, and in India he represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League. He has also featured in various other franchise competitions around the world.
Playing style and significance
David is regarded as a specialist Twenty20 finisher. His tall frame, long levers and ability to clear the boundary off both pace and spin have made him particularly valuable in the death overs of T20 innings. His shot-making has been described as "explosive", and he is known for being able to generate power on virtually any length of delivery. His career path—from a tier-two associate nation to a senior member of a major Test-playing side—also illustrates how the modern T20 franchise circuit can shape pathways into international cricket.
