Overview
Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, formerly known as Bhagalpur University, is a public university located in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. It was established on 12 July 1960, having earlier consisted of local colleges that were affiliated with Patna University.
The university campus extends over approximately 264 acres (1.07 km2). It functions as an affiliating institution serving the Bhagalpur region and surrounding districts of Bihar.
In 1991, the institution was renamed from Bhagalpur University to Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, in commemoration of Tilka Manjhi, a freedom fighter associated with early resistance against colonial rule in the region.
