Taufeeq Umar

Overview

Taufeeq Umar (born 20 June 1981) is a Pakistani former cricketer who represented the Pakistan national cricket team between 2001 and 2014. A left-handed opening batsman, he featured prominently in the longest format of the game during his international career.

Umar was a regular Test opening batsman for three seasons before being dropped ahead of the 2004–05 season. He later returned to international cricket and continued to be associated with the national side until 2014.

In May 2020, Umar tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered successfully the following month.
