Overview
The Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University (TNJMFAU), formerly and commonly known as the Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University (TNMFAU), is a government university dedicated to music and the fine arts. It is located in Adyar, in the southern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
The university is named after J. Jayalalithaa, a former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It is regarded as one of the premier institutions in the state for higher education and research in music and the fine arts.
The campus in Adyar is situated about 15 km (9.3 mi) from Chennai International Airport and roughly 10 km (6.2 mi) from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, making it accessible from major transport hubs in the city.
