Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU) is a state public university located at Nanded in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, India. Background
The university was established to extend higher education facilities in the southern districts of Marathwada, which had previously been served by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. With the rapid growth of colleges in the region, a separate university was created with its headquarters at Nanded. The institution carries the name of Swami Ramanand Tirtha in recognition of his contribution to education and to the integration of the Hyderabad State with India in 1948.
