Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Ashok Yadav was born on 14th of  September in the year 1990, is a popular Indian cricketer known for his aggressive batting style and innovative shot-making. He is currently one of India’s leading T20 batsmen and has impressed cricket fans worldwide with his fearless attitude and ability to hit big shots in every corner of the ground. People fondly call him “Sky”, taken from his initials S. K. Y.

In recent years, Suryakumar Yadav has become an important player in India’s white-ball cricket teams and a star in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Personal Life - 

Suryakumar Yadav married his long-time girlfriend Devisha Shetty, a dance coach, in 2016. The couple met in 2010 during their college days in Mumbai and have supported each other ever since. Outside cricket, Suryakumar enjoys travelling, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends. He is also fond of tattoos and has several stylish designs inked on his body.

Suryakumar Yadav was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father, Ashok Kumar Yadav, worked as an engineer at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and his mother, Swapna Yadav, is a homemaker. Suryakumar grew up in Mumbai’s suburban area of Chembur.

Seeing his interest, his father enrolled him in a cricket camp at the age of 10. He started training under local coaches and later joined Elf Vengsarkar Academy under the guidance of former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar.

Suryakumar’s cricketing journey began in Mumbai’s school and club cricket circles. His consistent performances earned him a place in Mumbai’s Under-15, Under-19, and Under-22 teams.
He made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2010–11 Ranji Trophy season. In his very first match against Delhi, he scored a brilliant 73 runs, and soon after, made a century in his second match. Over the years, Suryakumar became a key player for Mumbai in domestic cricket, leading the team in various matches and contributing to important victories.

Suryakumar Yadav’s career got a major boost through the IPL. He was first picked by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2012, though he didn’t get many chances to play. In 2014, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It was with KKR that he made his name in the IPL by playing quick, valuable innings in tough situations. In 2018, Mumbai Indians bought him back, and this time he became a regular part of the team’s playing eleven. 

After years of consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL, Suryakumar Yadav finally received his much-awaited India call-up in 2021. He made his T20 International debut against England on 14 March 2021. In his very first innings for India, he played a stunning knock, hitting the first ball he faced for a six. He scored a brilliant half-century and announced his arrival on the international stage in style. Later in the same year, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka.
