Overview
Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) is a state health sciences university located in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was established in 2009 under The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences Act, 2007, enacted by the Government of Assam.
The university is named after Srimanta Sankaradeva, the medieval Assamese saint-scholar and cultural figure. It functions as an affiliating and regulatory body for institutions offering programmes in the health sciences within the state.
SSUHS is the only health sciences university in the North Eastern Region of India, with its jurisdiction extending across the whole of Assam. In this capacity, it brings medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and allied health science education in the state under a unified academic framework.
