Overview

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, also known as Sri Padmavati University, is a women's state university located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established by the Andhra Pradesh legislature in 1983 with the aim of providing higher education for women in general and professional disciplines. The university is named after the goddess Sri Padmavati, the consort of Lord Venkateswara.

The university admits women students from across the regions of Andhra Pradesh and has an enrolment of approximately 5,000 students. It offers programmes in a range of academic and professional fields, supporting women's access to higher education within the state.

Funding for the development of the university is received from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The institution has been accredited with an 'A+' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

In 2024, Prof. V. Uma of the Department of Social Work at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam was appointed as the In-charge Vice-Chancellor of the university.
