Background
The university is promoted by the JK Organisation, an Indian conglomerate with interests in cement, tyres, paper, and other industries. The institution is named in honour of Sir Padampat Singhania (1905–1979), a leading Indian industrialist and one of the principal figures behind the growth of the J. K. group in the twentieth century.
